Management Attends TransWorld’s Halloween & Attractions Show

This past March, four members of the Jaycees Feargrounds management staff attended TransWorld’s Halloween & Attractions Show in St. Louis, MO.

What is TransWorld, you might ask? It is the largest convention for haunted attractions in the nation, hosted by the Haunted Attraction Association (HAA). The show includes a massive show floor with the latest and greatest in haunted house costumes, makeup, props, animatronics, set design and more.

C.H.A.O.S. Safety Certification

The Jaycees Feargrounds now has three C.H.A.O.S. certified members on the management staff!

The Certified Haunted Attraction Operator Safety (C.H.A.O.S.) Program is the HAA’s safety course for owner/operators of haunted attractions. It includes a curriculum of classes that our management team completed while in St. Louis. We are thankfully already doing many things right in regards to haunt safety, such as our “panic” switches for volunteers and many other safety measures we use behind the scenes. We also learned there is more we can do to make our haunt better and safer than ever before.

Building our Program

In addition to safety certification, the team took classes on makeup, set design, actor training and management techniques from industry experts around the nation, including The Dent Schoolhouse, Terror Behind the Walls, and the Niles Scream Park. We are excited to use this new knowledge to take our set building up a notch for the 2019 scare season, expand on our Scare School program (that anyone can attend to see what goes on behind the scenes) and are excited to introduce our 2019 scare season makeup internships!
